History

Incorporated in 1709, Ridgefield is one of Connecticut's older communities, and its colonial roots are still visible in the preserved architecture along Main Street. The town was the site of the Battle of Ridgefield in 1777, one of the few Revolutionary War battles fought on Connecticut soil, leaving a cannonball famously lodged in the siding of a local building for generations.
