James Demetriades is the Mayor of Cromwell, Connecticut, and a labor and employment attorney. A native of Cromwell, he earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Quinnipiac School of Law in 2018. Prior to serving as mayor, Demetriades was first elected to the Cromwell Town Council in 2017, where he served as liaison to the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee, the LGBTQ Advisory Board, and the Youth Services Advisory Board.
Demetriades was elected Mayor of Cromwell and took office in 2024. His election was noted by Quinnipiac University, which highlighted his background as a labor and employment attorney and his involvement in the law school community during his time on the North Haven Campus.
