Eric Donavon Couture serves as the First Selectman of Killingworth, Connecticut, a role in which he functions as the town's chief executive and administrative officer. In this capacity, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the town, reviews current and future municipal needs, works on behalf of the town at the regional and state level, and ensures that town government adheres to the town charter and complies with applicable laws. He also serves as chairman of the Board of Selectmen and as the town's police chief. Couture took office in early 2022 and, as of a January 2024 profile, had served approximately two years. At 34 years old at that time, he was noted as the youngest First Selectman in Killingworth since Rick Albrecht took the oath at age 28 in 1977, and the first male to hold the office in 15 years.
Couture is a lifelong resident of Killingworth, having attended Region 17 schools and graduated from Haddam-Killingworth High School. He went on to study physics and political science at the Rochester Institute of Technology before returning to Connecticut, where he worked in state politics in research and communications roles. Prior to becoming First Selectman, he served on the Killingworth Board of Selectmen. He is affiliated with the Killingworth Democratic Town Committee and ran for reelection in 2025.
