Cindy Lignar

Cindy Lignar serves as the First Selectwoman of Chester, Connecticut, having taken office in 2023. Prior to her election, she was involved in local civic affairs, most notably heading the Chester Sustainability Team, where she demonstrated leadership across 12 sustainable impact areas ranging from inclusive community building to thriving local economies. She runs under the Democratic Party and is listed as an active member of the Chester Democratic Town Committee.

During her first term, Lignar's accomplishments have included improved transparency and communication with residents, the completion of multiple infrastructure projects, and securing grants while cutting costs. She has also overseen responsible budgets in coordination with the Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance, and town departments, all of which were approved by town vote.
