About
Christine Erica Zelek serves as First Selectwoman of Lyme, Connecticut, a position she has held since her election in November 2025. Running as an unaffiliated petitioning candidate with the support of the Lyme Democratic Town Committee (DTC), Zelek defeated Republican candidate Thomas St. Louis in one of only three contested first selectman races in Lyme this century, receiving 710 votes to St. Louis's 474. Her term is set to expire on November 16, 2027.
Zelek entered the 2025 race as a political newcomer, campaigning on themes of volunteerism, collaboration, and consensus-building within the community. As First Selectwoman, she serves on the three-member Board of Selectpeople alongside Second Selectman John Kiker (Democrat) and Third Selectman Thomas St. Louis (Republican). The Board is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the town, preparing the annual budget for review by the Board of Finance, and appointing residents to fill vacancies on town boards and commissions between election cycles.
