History

South Windsor was settled in 1652 as part of the original Windsor township — one of the oldest English settlements in Connecticut — and was officially incorporated as its own town on September 3, 1845. Its fertile floodplain soils along the Connecticut River made it an agricultural powerhouse for centuries, and that farming heritage is still very much alive today.
