History

Marlborough's story begins in 1648 with the founding of Sadler's Ordinary, a colonial-era traveler's inn that put this crossroads community on the map. Over a century later, in 1803, the town was officially incorporated from portions of Glastonbury, Colchester, and Hebron — taking its name from Marlborough, Massachusetts, itself named after a town in Wiltshire, England.
