Pete Bass

Pete Bass is the Mayor of New Milford, Connecticut, a position he has held since being first elected as a Republican. He was sworn in for his fourth term as mayor in December 2023, having defeated Democratic challenger Tom O'Brien by a vote of 4,508 to 1,857 in the general election. Prior to serving as mayor, Bass served six terms as a New Milford Town Council Member, giving him an extensive background in local municipal government.

Bass and his wife Tammy have lived in New Milford for over 34 years and have three children. Before entering elected office, he was the owner of Archway News, a business located in New Milford's historic downtown. He has also been active in the community through various volunteer roles, including serving as Chairman of the New Milford Downtown Business Alliance and participating in economic development efforts for the town.

As mayor, Bass has identified key priorities including road improvements, job creation, and community engagement. He has emphasized that New Milford's diversity is a strength and has stated a commitment to ensuring all residents are treated with respect and have their voices heard in local government.
