N Warren "Pete" Hess

N. Warren "Pete" Hess III is a Democratic politician serving as Mayor of Naugatuck, Connecticut, a position he holds through at least December 31, 2027. Born and raised in Naugatuck, he is widely known by his nickname "Pete" among friends and residents of the community. He graduated from the University of San Francisco in 1973, after which he adopted the name N. Warren Hess III professionally, describing it as more suitable for a legal career and as a tribute to his late father. He subsequently pursued a career in law, conducting his entire legal practice under that name.

Hess serves from the Mayor's Office located at 229 Church Street, 4th Floor, Naugatuck, CT 06770. During his tenure, he has spoken publicly about priorities including housing development, population growth, and economic development in Naugatuck, including the arrival of major employers such as Amazon. He is supported in his office by mayoral aides James McGrath and John Pruchnicki, secretary Isandra Lopes, and Borough Clerk Nancy DiMeo. Hess ran for re-election in the 2025 Connecticut General Election for Naugatuck Town Mayor.
