Michael J. Freda

Michael J. Freda serves as the First Selectman of North Haven, Connecticut, a position in which he oversees the town's municipal services and programs. As First Selectman, Freda leads the Selectman's Office, which serves as the primary point of contact for residents seeking assistance with questions and concerns related to town government. He has also been named to serve as President of COST, the Council of Connecticut's Small Towns, representing the Town of North Haven in that capacity.

Freda gained significant public attention in 2024 after suffering a brain aneurysm that caused a brain bleed and impacted his ability to speak. He took time away from his duties at Town Hall during his recovery, with his Executive Assistant Valerie managing communications from his office during his absence. Approximately three months after the medical episode, Freda returned to Town Hall and subsequently worked to raise public awareness about brain aneurysms based on his personal experience with the condition.
