Michael Ernest Passero is the Mayor of New London, Connecticut, a position he has held since 2015. He is a Democrat who has served the community in elected office continuously since that year, and was still serving as of 2023 when he ran as the incumbent in the New London mayoral race. Prior to his tenure as mayor, Passero served 31 years as a member of the New London Fire Department, giving him an extensive background in public safety and municipal service.

In addition to his career in the fire department, Passero is a licensed attorney admitted to practice before the Connecticut State Courts, the Federal District Court for the District of Connecticut, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and the First Circuit Court of Appeals.
