Mark A. Lauretti is the Mayor of Shelton, Connecticut, a position he has held for more than two decades. A Republican, Lauretti has served the city through multiple consecutive terms, having secured his 17th consecutive term in office after defeating Democrat Dave Eldridge with 6,807 votes to 5,426 votes, and was subsequently nominated by the Shelton Republican Town Committee to seek an 18th consecutive term. His tenure has made him one of the longest-serving mayors in Connecticut.

Lauretti's mayoral office is located at 54 Hill Street in Shelton and oversees a broad range of municipal departments, including Parks & Recreation, Planning and Zoning, Public Works, and the City Council, among others. During his administration, Shelton has been recognized as a prominent residential and business community situated along the Housatonic River in the Naugatuck Valley. In a 2016 Zippia Report, Shelton was ranked first as the most successful city in Connecticut. Lauretti has stated that his primary focus throughout his tenure has been improving the quality of life for Shelton residents.

Beyond his mayoral duties, Lauretti has twice explored a run for Governor of Connecticut. He announced plans to run in January 2014 but withdrew before the primary. He again declared his candidacy on April 5, 2017, for the 2018 gubernatorial race, but dropped out in June 2018.
