Jon Tristor

Jon Trister is the Mayor of Newington, Connecticut, serving as the presiding official of the Newington Town Council. He is a Democrat and has been a resident of Newington for approximately 17 years, residing there with his wife, Roceli, and their two children, John and Charlotte, both of whom attend Newington Public Schools. Trister holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the UConn School of Public Policy.

Prior to his role as Mayor, Trister worked as a Legislative Liaison at the Connecticut Department of Correction (CT DOC). As Mayor, he is recognized as the official head of the Town for ceremonial and military purposes and holds the authority to appoint the Town Attorney and the Clerk of the Council. The Mayor serves a 2-year term and is elected separately from the eight other members of the Town Council. Trister has run for re-election, with reporting from the New Britain Herald indicating that his campaign emphasized teamwork, transparency, and a focus on results as key priorities for Newington's continued progress.
