Jennifer A. Mahr

Jennifer A. Mahr is the First Selectwoman of Middlebury, Connecticut, having won the position in a competitive election in which she ran as a Petitioning Candidate, defeating Republican candidate Vincent Cipriano and Democratic candidate Michael McCormack. Prior to her election as First Selectwoman, Mahr served as a member of the Middlebury Board of Selectmen and as president of the Middlebury Small Town Alliance (MSTA), a local civic organization. Her campaign focused on producing transparent and accountable local government that respects all resident concerns, and she was notably involved in organizing widespread community opposition to the proposed redevelopment of the Timex Headquarters in 2023.

Mahr announced her candidacy for First Selectwoman in 2025, seeking to unseat the town's longtime leader, Ed St. John. Running outside of the traditional two-party structure as a petitioning candidate, she ultimately secured the seat in the subsequent election. In her role as First Selectwoman, Mahr has emphasized community engagement and outreach, and her office has indicated a commitment to supporting both current and prospective residents and businesses in Middlebury.
