Jay Moran is the Mayor of Manchester, Connecticut, a position he has held since 2014. A Democrat, Moran also served more than two years as Deputy Mayor prior to assuming the mayoralty. He was first elected to the Board of Directors in 2009 and, before that, served two years on the Board of Education, giving him a lengthy record of public service in Manchester spanning well over a decade.
Moran has stated that his tenure on the Board of Directors has included guiding the town through both an economic recession and the COVID-19 pandemic, as Manchester has grown into one of the larger suburbs in Hartford County. He has described his approach to governance as one focused on serving all residents, with a stated emphasis on making Manchester a strong community for living, working, education, and worship.
In the 2025 municipal election, Moran ran as the incumbent Democratic candidate against Republican challenger Zachary Reichelt. Preliminary vote totals reported by both parties showed Moran receiving more than 8,000 votes compared to roughly 3,700 for Reichelt, with Moran declaring victory and Democrats expected to hold a majority on the Board of Directors.
