Dean Markham

Dean Markham is the Chairman of the East Hampton Town Council in East Hampton, Connecticut, serving as a Democrat. He has dedicated decades to public service, having served as a three-term Town Council member, a former Board of Finance member, and a seven-term State Representative in the Connecticut General Assembly, during which he held leadership roles including Deputy Speaker. His tenure reflects a long career in local and state-level governance in Connecticut.

As Town Council Chairman, Markham has been involved in significant municipal decisions affecting East Hampton. In March 2026, he announced the Town Council's decision to terminate the head of the Water Pollution Control Authority and disband its board following the collapse of a plan to expand a wastewater treatment plant, citing resident objections as a driving factor in the decision. The Town Council meets regularly at Town Hall Council Chambers, convening at 6:30 PM on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. East Hampton is also managed by Town Manager David Cox.
