Dan Carter

Dan Carter is the First Selectman of Bethel, Connecticut, a position he holds as a Republican serving the town's residents. A Bethel resident for over 20 years, Carter served as an officer and pilot in the United States Air Force prior to entering public service and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. His military career was followed by a transition into Connecticut state politics, where he was elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives in November 2010, representing the state's second district covering portions of Bethel, Danbury, and Redding.

Following his tenure as a State Representative, Carter moved into local government, winning election as First Selectman of Bethel. He has since earned reelection to the role, with a reelection victory confirmed through unofficial tallies posted on the Connecticut Secretary of State's website. As First Selectman, Carter has focused on practical governance, accessibility to residents, and addressing a range of local issues including municipal building projects, zoning applications, and community infrastructure concerns.
