About
Robert 'Bob' Carlson serves as the First Selectman of North Stonington, Connecticut, a small town in New London County. He was elected to the position in the November 7, 2023 general election, in which he ran as the sole candidate and received 100% of the votes cast. As First Selectman, Carlson leads the Board of Selectmen, a three-member elected body that meets on the first and third Tuesday evenings throughout the year.
In his role, Carlson oversees a range of municipal responsibilities handled through the Selectmen's Office, including burning permits, notary services, town bookkeeping, budget controls, and health issues. He has been an accessible presence for North Stonington residents, as demonstrated in November 2024 when he personally stood at the entrance of the North Stonington Education Center to address voters and offer apologies following an early voting mishap during that year's election cycle. A photograph taken at Town Hall in December 2024 further documents his continued service in the role.
